Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake warned that any member of the SLFP who transgresses the party constitution could be suspended from the party.
He made this observation at a press conference in Colombo this morning.
Dissanayake refuted allegations that the recent sacking of several prominent 'Joint Opposition' members from their district and electorate organizer posts was an act of revenge.
It was a matter of party reorganization, and not an act of revenge, Dissanayake claimed.
President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the SLFP Chairman, removed a number of prominent 'Joint Opposition' members who support former President Mahinda Rajapaksa from their organizational posts in the party yesterday.
