Yesterday (17) marked the grand finale of the Esala Perahera Festival of Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kandy with Grand Randoli Procession. Considered one of the most colorful events in the world, it is the biggest and one of the longest running cultural events of the country which attracts thousands of visitors locally and internationally.
As per the tradition, Day Perahera (Water Cutting Ceremony "Diya Kepeema" ritual) will be taking place today (18) morning at Getembe, to conclude the festival.
This year the festival attracted attention for the elephant issue.
