Forty one new electorate and district organizers of the SLFP were appointed this morning by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Accordingly, several prominent 'Joint Opposition' figures supporting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa have been replaced.

Those replaced include Keheliya Rambukwella, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, C.B. Rathnayake, Gamini Lokuge, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

President Sirisena carried out a similar 'purge' in February this year, replacing several prominent 'Joint Opposition' supporters.
