A civilian was killed in the Muhamalai area in Kilali by a landmine explosion, Palai Police said.

The deceased, P. Suthakaran, was a 39 year old resident from Kilali, Jaffna.

The body was found on August 14 during a search operation conducted as a result of a complaint made at Palai Police Station on Saturday by the relatives of the deceased.

He has entered in to an uncleared area to gather firewood.
