Sri Lanka's number 1 badminton player Niluka Karunaratne bowed out of the Rio Olympics men's badminton tournament after a victory over a higher ranked Polish player.
Karunaratne, who is ranked 93rd in the world, defeated 58th ranked Adrian Dziółko of Poland by 2 sets to nil.
However, Karunaratne had to bow out of the tournament as he came second in Group P. He had been beaten by China's Chen Long, who is ranked world number 2. He had a walkover against Kevin Cordon, the Guatamalan player.
