The FCID is not a police but a branch of Sirikotha, the UNP head office, UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa claimed.
Speaking at a meeting in Ginigathhena, Rajapaksa said that although it acts on behalf of the UNP, it has pictures of President Maithripala Sirisena hanging on the walls.
"Perhaps it could be because Sirisena is attending the UNP party convention as a special guest of honour" Rajapaksa said.
Meanwhile, he added that the IGP is also capable of bending the law to the government's advantage. Revealing that he has been summoned to record a statement tomorrow, Rajapaksa added that he is waitng to see if the IGP bends the law to arrest him.
The FCID and other institutions are used to harass opposition figures and even state officials, Rajapaksa also said.
