An Australian teenager who is circumnavigating the world in a Cirrus SR22 single-engine aircraft in a bid to become the youngest person to fly solo landed in Muscat on Saturday evening, the Muscat Daily reported. He will fly out to Sri Lanka for his next stop on Monday.

Lachlan Smart from Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, wants to send a message to people, particularly the youth, showing that dreams can be achieved no matter how big or small. “Age, size and circumstances are not limiting factors, instead they are only as challenges worth overcoming for a final outcome,” said Smart on his feat.

The trip will see Smart navigate his way across five continents, 20 countries and cover 45,000km in a seven and a half week period, the Muscat Daily said.

The 18 year old departed from the Sunshine Coast Airport on July 4 and has already flown to the US and the Europe. He flew into Muscat from Hurghada, Egypt, and will leave for Sri Lanka on Monday. From Sri Lanka, he will fly to Malaysia, Indonesia and then finally to Australia, completing his astonishing feat in Sunshine Coast on August 27.
