Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris today directed the Directors of Colombo National Hospital and the Prison Hospital to file reports on the recent admission of Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake to the Merchant Ward of the National Hospital.
This order was made taking into account a request made by the aggrieved party. The Magistrate inquired if Senanayake could not be treated at the Prison Hospital and if it was essential for him to be admitted to the merchant wards of the National Hospital.
Senanayake and former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Perera are in remand custody over alleged involvement in the suppression of information regarding the Thajudeen murder.
They were also further remanded till August 24 and the hospital directors were directed to file their reports by that day.
Meanwhile, Senanayake requested permission to attend the convocation of his daughter on August 15. He made this request on humanitarian grounds. However, the AG objected that Thajudeen's father's humanitarian grounds were even stronger since he had lost a son. These requests should not be entertained especially since they are suspected of a serious crime, the AG said.
The Magistrate refused permission for Senanayake to attend the convocation.
