Former Cabinet Minister of Co-operatives and Internal Trade, UPFA MP Johnston Fernando appeared before the Financial Crime Investigation Division today morning.
He appeared at the FCID to give a statement regarding an incident where he was allegedly responsible for importing a stock of rice without a Cabinet approval during the period of the last government.
Steps have been taken to get the above statement on financial irregularity caused by importing 60,000 metric ton stock of rice without a Cabinet approval in 2014.
Financial Crime Investigation Division stated that the statement is being taking down at the moment.
He was called by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry regarding the same issue on a previous day.
