National Freedom Front Spokesman Mohammad Muzammil was granted bail by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on special grounds today.

He was released on a cash bail of Rs 25,000 and two sureties of Rs 1 million each considering the health of his child. A medical report said that the child is suffering from a respiratory condition and and that the father's protection is needed. The medical report said that the child has a danger of being depressed in the absence of the father.

Muzammil was arrested over the alleged misuse of a Presidential Secretariat vehicle during the former regime of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
