Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar on Monday told the Legislative Assembly that a total of 2,451 fishermen, who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy since 2011, have been 'rescued' by the AIADMK government.

Replying to DMK member Mathivanan, he said while Palk Straits witnessed 10 firing incidents by the Sri Lankan Navy during the DMK rule, the efforts taken by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa put an end to firing.

“We have also retrieved 352 boats seized by the Sri Lankan Navy,” he said.
