Since the private medical university was started during the last government, there is no possibility of reversing it back, Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella said.

He made this observation at a media conference held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways yesterday (08).

Minister further claimed that, the only problem university students have these days is the SAITM.

"There are no other issues. SAITM was started by the former government, not by us. So no matter what others say we cannot change it back. After the former government started, the degrees offered by that institute have being recognized.  The students who have being studied for five years in that institution, should be treated fair. How can we neglect the students who started with the support of the government and were studying for five years?” he said.
