Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa stated that political parties should be operated democratically and those who engage in terrorist acts cannot remain in parties.
Speaking at a recent meeting, he made this observation referring to the public burning of letters sent by the party to some former local councilors.
These local councilors of the SLFP burned the letters sent by the party informing them of interviews to select candidates for the next local government elections. They burned them and said that they will contest only under the leadership of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Priyadarshana Yapa said that those who reject party leadership must leave the party. Disputes in the party have to be sorted out democratically and not through terrorism, he added.
