The Attorney General filed indictment against UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra and eight of her supporters on 29 counts including abduction, threatening and intimidation.

The incident took place on December 21, 2015, when a youth was allegedly abducted and later released by some individuals using a defender jeep used by Premachandra.

Premachandra allegedly threatened the youth after the abduction.

She was arrested by Colombo Crime Division in January, and was released on bail.
