UPFA MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the disciplinary action against MP Sanath Nishantha is the first step in destroying the SLFP.

Speaking at a press conference at Matara yesterday, he said that this could possibly be done to fulfill the wishes of external powers.

He said that the decision was taken by the 'nominal' SLFP.

The SLFP Central Committee recently decided to initiate disciplinary action against Nishantha for allegedly criticizing the party leadership.
