The 65th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will be held at Kurunegala on September 4, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said recently.

The anniversary falls on September 2. However since it will be a working day, the anniversary main event will be held on September 4.

However various commemorative events will be held on September 2 and 3.

The SLFP was formed in 1951 by the former UNP MP and Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and a few others who crossed over to the opposition.
