Seven males of the same family were sentenced to death by Nuwara Eliya High Court today over a murder that took place in 2000.

They were charged for over the murder of an individual at Venture Estate in Nuwara Eliya in 2000 and were sentenced today by High Court Judge Lalith Ekanayake after a lengthy trial.

In addition to the death sentence, they were also handed over a separate sentence of a fine of Rs 3000 and a six month jail term.
