The government's amendments to the Value Added Tax will further complicate the country's tax policy, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters today, Dissanayake said that the new policies will not give relief to the ordinary citizens.
When the VAT legislation is introduced to parliament, the MPs who represent the people and those who do not will be revealed, he added.
The VAT legislation, which was presented to Parliament in July, was challeged at the Supreme Court later. It is expected to be debated in Parliament this month.
