The Appeals Court extended the interim injunction order against the ban on 'full face helmets' till November 17.
The court gave this direction after the Attorney General's Department informed that the new regulations are yet to be drafted.
Appeals Court President Judge Vijith Malalgoda and Judge Preethi Padman Surasena heard the case today.
The police decided to ban full face helmets with effect from March 21, 2015, in order to stop crimes and burglaries done by people covering their faces using full face helmets.
However, following strong opposition from motorcyclists, the ban was withdrawn. Later the police said it will implement the ban from April 2, 2015. However, the Appeals Court issued an interim injunction order on the same day against the ban.
The AG later said that new regulations will be implemented regarding the full face helmets. In May this year, the AG informed that three months are required to prepare the regulations. However, the AG today informed that they have not been prepared as of now.
