Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has placed his signature on the Right to Information Bill, thereby confirming it as an Act of the Parliament, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Gayantha Karunathilake said today.

The RTI Bill was a key promise of the Maithripala Sirisena presidential campaign. However it was only passed in Parliament recently.

Karunathilake said that the signing of the Bill by the speaker was delayed since he was overseas.
