Police handed over a letter to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, informing him of the availability of Campbell Park in Borella for the Joint Opposition rally this afternoon.

It was reported that the government made the decision after Rajapaksa's request to the Prime Minister.

The Joint Opposition had earlier reserved the Hyde Park. However, the ground was closed due to some repair work last week.
