Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today refused a request made by the Fort Police to issue notices to 11 Joint Opposition MPs over a recent protest against former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran.

The Magistrate laid by the request pointing out that it has not been properly filed.

Meanwhile the Magistrate reprimanded several media institutions for a false report claiming that the MPs have been issued notice on Friday. She ordered the Registrar to inform of the court's displeasure in writing to the heads of the media institutions.

The protest against the then CB Governor was held in June.
