The Communist Party of Sri Lanka is divided on the party's stance on the 'Jana Satana' march organized by the 'Joint Opposition'.
Party General Secretary DEW Gunasekara, releasing a statement earlier in the day, said that the Communist Party cannot accept some slogans of the march, especially the slogan on 'Constitutional Death Trap.' Therefore, the party will not be taking part in the march, he said.
However, party stalwart Raja Kollure disputed Gunasekara, saying that the Politburo has not taken such a decision on the march. Although the party cannot accept certain slogans, it is in accordance with most other slogans, he added.
This shows a clear difference of opinion within the CPSL, which has only one parliamentarian at present.
