A former Controller of Immigration and Emigration, J.A. Ariyasena, was fined Rs 6.6 million and sentenced to a 10 year prison term suspended for two years by the Colombo High Court.

He was found guilty of keeping in possession Rs 200,000 and a house valued at Rs 2 million illegally.

Therefore he was fined three times the value he had kept in possession by illegal means.
