Traders in Pettah launched a hartal this morning against the increase of the VAT.

Shops in Pettah were closed and the traders protested against the increase of the VAT. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the VAT increase.

Heavy traffic was also reported in and around Colombo Fort due to the protest.
