National Freedom Front Spokesman Mohomad Muzammil's bail application was rejected by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne who ordered him to be further remanded till July 27.

His lawyers had submitted a written bail applications on two grounds. They argued that he was arrested without investigations being complete. Furthermore, they informed court that Muzammil's child is suffering from skin disorder and that he was required to be present for the medical treatment.

The Magistrate refused both arguments and said that according to doctors' recommendations, the mother's care was adequate for the child's medical treatment.

The Magistrate also ordered the FCID to expedite the investigations as the suspect was in remand custody.
