President Maithripala Sirisena will be elected by the people of the country to be the President for the next five years, Minister P. Harrison said today, adding that even if Sirisena refuses to run for Presidency again, he will not be able to refuse the requests coming from the people.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the Dambulla market, Harrison said that none of the plans of the 'Joint Opposition' will have any purpose as Sirisena will remain president.
Harrison pointed out that the 'Shadow Cabinet' introduced by the 'Joint Opposition' has proven to be a shadow literally, as the Shadow Prime Minister, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has resigned.
"We also engaged in such pointless activities when we were in opposition and we know that those things will not work," he said.
