Sri Lanka and India have agreed to accelerate the talks on the Economic and Technical Corporation Agreement between the two countries.

This matter was discussed when Minister of Development Strategy and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama met with Indian officials in New Delhi.

Samarawickrama met with India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and India's State Minister of Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitaraman and discussed the ETCA.

An Indian delegation is also expected to arrive in Sri Lanka for further talks regarding the ETCA.

The governments hope to reach the final agreement by the end of the year.
