Former Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Indika Koralage and four others surrendered to police over the assault of a local businessman on Tuesday night.

A group had entered a restaurant in Homagama where a civil association was holding a meeting, and had assaulted the businessman. He was taken to hospital in serious condition.

CCTV cameras at the restaurant have recorded the incident. An individual who came to assault the businessman was also injured and was arrested.

The businessman who was assaulted told media that he had been threatened with death by Koralage on previous occasions. Koralage has denied that he was involved in the attack.
