Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma is reported to be in serious condition after suffering a heart attack following yesterday's suicide drama.

He attempted to commit suicide in an attempt to force a decision on the admission of ten children to Meegasthenne Vidyalaya in Matugama yesterday. Following the suicide drama, the school principal agreed to fulfil his demand and admit the children.

A short while later Thewarapperuma fainted and was rushed to the Meegasthenna Base Hospital. He was later transferred to the Nagoda Hospital and was later transferred to the Nawaloka Hospital in Colombo.
