Jathika Hela Urumaya Spokesman Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said today that the Committee on Public Enterprise should release its report on the Central Bank bond issue as soon as possible.

Speaking at a press conference today, he said that there was indication that Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran could be involved in the controversial issue. Otherwise, the President would not have announced that he was going to replace the Governor, Warnasinghe added.

He also maintained that appointment of a new Governor would not suffice. People have to be told the truth of the matter, he pointed out.

Commenting on the reports on undue interference faced by the Chairman of the COPE, Warnasinghe said that if there were such incidents, the COPE Chairman should come out in public and explain the matters.
