The police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse a protest by university students at Kollupitiya Junction.

The protest march, spearheaded by the medical students of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, was organized to express opposition to SAITM.

The march started from the university earlier today and was on its way towards the Temple Trees, when the police blocked its way at the Kollupitiya Junction.
