Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake said that there was a defender with forged number plates at the MP's Quarters at Madiwela.
Speaking at a press conference convened in Madiwela today, Ramanayake said that the Department of Motor Traffic could not give details of a vehicle with the number plate in the defender.
He added that there was a suspicion if this vehicle was used for some illegal activity.
Meanwhile, UNP MP Ananda Aluthgamage, who also took part in the press conference, claimed that he was well aware of the vehicle.
Ananda Aluthgamage is the brother of UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
