Ambassador of People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Yi Xianliang, said that China expects to see Sri Lanka remain an undivided, unitary country.
Speaking to the media after meeting with the Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran, the Ambassador said that China backed a constitutional change in the country which involves everyone and follows the political and economic agenda of the country.
Meanwhile, Wigneswaran revealed that he expressed his disappointment at the presence of a large military contingent in the north.
For people of all communities to live in harmony, the rights of all people have to be recognized, Wigneswaran told media. The heavy military presence does not show such a recognition, he argued.
