President Maithripala Sirisena today inspected the largest cocaine stock seized in Sri Lanka with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and vowed that the government will continue to clamp down on drug smuggling.
The stock was discovered inside a container which had arrived from Brazil at the Orugodawatta container yard.
The special police unit attached to the Finance Ministry made the discovering based on a tip-off.
The drugs were found inside three bags inside the container, which was registered as a shipment of sugar.
The total wight of cocaine in the three bags was around 91 kg.
