President Maithripala Sirisena vowed that all Sri Lankans will be provided with potable water within one year, as water was the main reason for the kidney disease which has now spread beyond the Rajarata area.
Speaking at the opening of two new filters for the people in Kelabogaswewa in Vavuniya, the President also said that a fully equipped hospital especially for the treatment of the kidney disease will be opened in the North Central Province within this year.
Local and foreign assistance will be sought in the project to provide potable water, he also said.
The President also maintained that people of all communities will be provided assistance to develop, regardless of their race or other differences.
