Former Narahenpita Police Crimes OIC, who is under remand custody for allegedly suppressing information regarding the investigations into the death of former ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen, gave a confidential statement to Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris.
Former OIC Sumith Perera went in to the Magistrate's Chamber at 12.05 p.m. and returned at 2.10 p.m.
No one else was present inside the Magistrate's Chamber when Perera made the statement.
He had requested permission from the court to make a confession on four occasions. The Additional Magistrate gave him permission yesterday and ordered him to be brought to court today.
Perera and former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake are in remand custody over the inquiry into the murder of Wasim Thajudeen.
