The no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake will be taken up for debate at the Parliament today.
The no confidence motion was handed over to the Speaker several weeks ago with the signatures of 35 'Joint Opposition' MPs. They argue that Ravi Karunanayake was responsible for presenting misleading figures in the budget.
The parliamentary session is expected to begin at 9.30 a.m. The vote on the motion will be taken up at 6.30 p.m.
The JVP has already said that it will vote in favor of the no confidence motion. The TNA is yet to announce its decision.
Meanwhile, the UNP has adviced all of its MPs to be at the Parliament at the time of the vote on the no confidence motion.
