Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said that she will not be able to stay in the government if former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is appointed to the SLFP as some party stalwarts have suggested.
Speaking at an event on Sunday she said that the government was brought in to stop the looting of the country.
Minister John Seneviratne recently said that discussions were underway to make Gotabaya Rajapaksa the 'second leader' of the SLFP to prevent the party from breaking up. The SLFP is divided as the pro-Maithripala Sirisena and the pro-Mahinda Rajapaksa camps and the latter supports the 'Joint Opposition' formed by the pro-Rajapaksa group in the UPFA.
