Former Magistrate Thilina Gamage is likely to surrender to court today over the possession of an elephant calf without a valid license, informed sources said.
He was named a suspect in the case by the CID yesterday. The CID informed of this through a motion to the Gangodawila Magistrate's Court, where the Magisterial Inquiry into Gamage's anticipatory bail application is being held.
The wildlife authorities discovered this elephant in early 2015 at Gamage's residence. The elephant named 'Sakura' has been valued at Rs 6.9 million.
