Embilipitiya ASP DWC Dharmarathna, who was in remand custory for the death of a youth in the town, was released on bail today by the Embilipitiya Magistrate's Court.

He was released on a cash bail of Rs 20,000 and sureties of Rs 500,000 each.

Dharmarathna was in remand custory for over four months regarding the death of the youth which occurred in January this year after an alleged clash with the police. The victim's family said that the ASP pushed him from an upper floor of a building.

A second autopsy carried out recently on the death of the youth suggested that he had fallen down from the upper floor. However the victim's party contests the findings.
