Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne today said that he was prepared to discuss the recent disputes with the Government Medical Officers' Association to come to a settlement.
Speaking to the media at the Cabinet Press Briefing today he said that the dispute was created by a misunderstanding.
Pointing out that he could not comment on the success or failure of the strike by the GMOA on Monday, Senaratne said that he will take necessary measures in the event of a new strike.
The GMOA earlier called for the removal of Senaratne from the Ministry of Health, alleging that he was guilty of several acts of malpractice.
Senaratne had hit back at the GMOA, saying that it was his duty to provide health services to the people of this country and he cannot do it if he was getting intimidated by 'various' mafia groups.
