Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said that about 20% of the island is in risk of landslides.
He made this observation today at a media briefing held at SLFP Headquarters at Darley Road.
“7 teams have been appointed to monitor activities in those areas. People will be evacuated from areas under landslide threat. About Rs. 18 million has been allocated to clean Kollonnawa and nearby areas which were affected by floods. The Cabinet Paper regarding the matter was approved”, the Minister said.
The funds received for flood relief has been deposited in a separate account, Yapa said. He also said that Chinese aids will be received in the evening today.
