The Kalu Ganga, Nilwala Ganga and Attanagalu Oya are approaching flood levels in several places, the Sri Lanka Red Cross and the DMC said.

People are warned to be vigilant in risk areas along these basins as more rain was expected to the western slopes of the hill country today.

Meanwhile, water levels in several reservoirs including Castlereigh were approaching spill level this morning. The water level on the Kelani River was also reported to be increasing.
