Former Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman and two others were released on bail yesterday by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya in a corruption case against them.
They were released on two sureties of Rs 5 million each.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a case against former SLPA Chairman Priyath Bandu Wickrama and two other officers of the authority at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court on April 1.
They are accused of using 319 employees of SLPA in Galle and Trincomalee harbours for tasks other than what is officially assigned to them and thereby causing a loss of Rs 65 million to the government. The incidents are said to have occurred between October 20, 2014, and January 7, 2015.
