Additional Magistrate Tilina Gamage today filed a petition at the Gangodawila Magistrate's Court seeking anticipatory bail.
He said that there was an imminent likelihood of him being arrested by the CID. The CID has arrived at his residence and harassed his family members, he also said.
The petition will be taken up on May 30. The OIC of Special Investigations Unit at the CID was issued notice to appear before court on that day.
Gamage was recently suspended from his duties after he was named a suspect for allegedly keeping an elephant in his possession without a valid license.
He has repeatedly avoided appearing at the CID to give a statement on the matter. The Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya recently issued him notice to appear at the CID on May 25. However, CID sources said that Gamage had not appeared at the CID on that day as well.
