Former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Perera said yesterday that he was ready to make a confession to court regarding the charges put forward against him in the Wasim Thajudeen murder case.
This submission was made by the former OIC to Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris.
The court directed that a confession must be made by the relevant person under no interference from other parties.
Therefore, the court advised Perera to rethink of the matter and make the same request on June 9 during the next magisterial inquiry. Then the court will grant him the opportunity, the Magistrate said.
Meanwhile former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake's lawyers said that he had no intention of making such statements.
The CID and the AG Department was making attempts to intimidate the Senior DIG into making some statement by opposing him bail, the lawyers submitted, adding that the former Senior DIG had dignity and will not be intimidated.
