Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday addressed the parliament and said that there was no point in blame-games at the time of a natural disaster.
Speaking on the flood and landslide situation in the country, he said that he was willing to support the government in relief efforts.
This disaster hit the children of the country the most, Rajapaksa also said.
He also asked the government to consider the plans initiated by his government. For example, the Outer Circular Highway was protected because it was constructed as a bridge, he pointed out. He asked the government to consider the plans prepared during his times in completing the OCH.
The UPFA MPs and even some UNP MPs commended Rajapaksa's speech.
