Frontline Socialist Party Propaganda Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda and Politburo Member Sujuth Kuruwita were released on bail by Maligakande Magistrate Prasanna Alwis today.

They were earlier arrested by the Maradana Police after they appeared at the police station to give statements on allegedly damaging state property.

They were released on four sureties of Rs 100,000 each.

The alleged incident occurred on April 1, 2016, when a protest took place near the Immigration and Emigration Department office in Punchi Borella, demanding citizenship to the FLSP Central Committee member Kumar Gunaratnam.

The FLSP said that police attempted to arrest Jayagoda and Kuruwita on May 23 without necessary legal sanction.
