A relief period of one month will be granted to the people of disaster hit areas to settle their electricity and water bills, the Finance Ministry said today.

This has been discussed during the Cabinet meeting today, it was revealed by the ministry.

Large areas of the lower Kelani basin were flooded during the recent days, displacing tens of thousands in Colombo and Gampaha Districts.
